Blog19 After 2 months Hiatus, writing this blog because This was a completely new experience. Okay, so this post is all about the place where you would hear the loudest of the cries and Blood spilt like water.Yes, That's true, its about the Labour Room. I was posted in The Gynaecology department from  12th July to 5th August 2022. The duration of the posting was of 3 weeks and It was HECTIC . From learning how to talk to patient to actually seeing a placenta delivery in front of my eyes! In 2nd year You should be aware of how to take history of the patient properly.  Got to see a lot of new borns .They were so tiny(and loud) I remember when we had a class in the casualty and Sir told us to do the Per-Vaginal Examination. That moment I was shit scared. Glad,Sir upon seeing the expressions dropped that idea😂 This posting was so EVENTFUL 😂👏 In my ward leaving exam today, I was assigned a case of female who was going through leaking per vaginum. She was cooperative ...

First Experience of Pricking Finger for Hematology Practical| Physiology Hematology Practical| Indian MedSchool Story|

Blog3
We all as young or even old dread of getting injections.I still remember recent conversation I had with my friend to get covid vaccine done and her reply was,"Injection se hi to darr hai!" So, Ya getting injections and pricking fingers can be a frightful task for some or even memorable one like I had in my first Physiology Hematolgy practical in my first year.
The slight prick though gives a chill to the spine.
As a first year medical student, You get to experience a whole lot of "Bloody" practicals😂 Someone rightly said,"MBBS khoon maangti hai!" He must be talking about the Physiology Hematology Practicals
So, in those practicals, You have to prick your finger and check the various aspects of the experiments.
You can also prick your Friend's finger and analyse the experiment but no one is like me, who actually gave blood to my classmate for the first practical or even last one as well😂
The very sight of the practical lab is filled with hustle, some students consoling each other by saying,"Bhai 2 boond hi to leni hogi!" Some students making groups and then discussing their life choices whether coming here is a good decision or not😂😂
Some Guys approaching Girls to help them in pricking their finger.Believe me,Hematology Practicals are sure way to approach the crushes you get with onset of med school😂
So the practical was to Check the Haemoglobin concentration using Sahli's Haemoglobinometer. Haemoglobinometer is an equipment that helps you in analysing the Haemoglobin concentration in blood .Your blood should match by the color present in the equipment after performing the experiment and then
analyse under the Sunlight.
So the practical started and My friend, Usha and I took the liberty of pricking each other's finger using Needle provided. Usha was first to perform the pricking. I sterilised my finger using the cotton swab provided and let it airdry. Then came the frightening or Chill moment, I told her to not prick it tight,I don't want to see my blood gushing like a fountain and then approaching for a first aid😂😂
At that time, the episode of me getting my first blood test done years back started revolving inside my head!  She looked at me, I with my anguish filled eyes, gave an expression to not prick it with much force. I closed my eyes😂 and then she pricked my finger. She did the right way and I didn't feel any much pain. Glad I probably got the best lab partner 😂 Then I pricked her finger the same way. She didn't feel the pain too😆 Then we took the drops of our own blood and performed the experiment as told by our professor. The whole class was much in hustle because everyone was in dread of pricking their fingers.Guys approaching Girls to do for them. Then, Came the time to analyse the Result of the experiment. Our professor told us to interpret our result.Much to our surprise, We both had quite the similar level of Haemoglobin concentration 😂😂 Even the lab staff told both of us,"Are you both anaemic?" 🤣🤣🤣
Sisters for life🤣✨
The lab class ended and probably gave a new insight of what we have to go through in first year.
