Blog19 After 2 months Hiatus, writing this blog because This was a completely new experience. Okay, so this post is all about the place where you would hear the loudest of the cries and Blood spilt like water.Yes, That's true, its about the Labour Room. I was posted in The Gynaecology department from  12th July to 5th August 2022. The duration of the posting was of 3 weeks and It was HECTIC . From learning how to talk to patient to actually seeing a placenta delivery in front of my eyes! In 2nd year You should be aware of how to take history of the patient properly.  Got to see a lot of new borns .They were so tiny(and loud) I remember when we had a class in the casualty and Sir told us to do the Per-Vaginal Examination. That moment I was shit scared. Glad,Sir upon seeing the expressions dropped that idea😂 This posting was so EVENTFUL 😂👏 In my ward leaving exam today, I was assigned a case of female who was going through leaking per vaginum. She was cooperative ...

Image
Blog18 Hello to amazing humans out there, who genuinely love checking out my blog even when I don't post regularly. So a big major update, I have finally passed my 1st year! Imagine finally waving a goodbye(not really) to Anatomy books. Finally Making new space for another round of subjects  *okay a lil bit of background story* I was so much apprehensive everyday before my result came because of the little anxious flashbacks that came about what I actually wrote in my examination sheets!🗑️ Anatomy exam went so much of a toss but ,Can you believe ?I scored 200 out of 300 in that! Can't believe I actually don't have to encounter my Anatomy professors who aced the art of making nonsense comments about me. first year was indeed hard and so much I had to bear last year. Talking about the percentage, I scored 69.4% in my proff. Consider it as 70.0% okay!😂😂 That joy doesn't seem to go away really. The moment I remember  the mental breakdown I had on my Biochemis...

Ma'am briefed us about Parts and various aspects of Pathology.Kinda scared but will try not to make Histo-Pathology a nightmare🙂 The lecture was sweet though. Sat With my friends that too in 2nd row🤣  Wow,That's enough motivation to start off new session. Next lecture was of Microbiology taken by HOD Ma'am. She was so sweet. She gave introduction to the subject. Next came" The first ever Clinical Postings!" I was posted to the Paediatrics Ward. First year ends! Practical Exam Edition |Indian MedSchool Story|

Image
I had my proffs done recently and the level of Calm i finally received that I do not have to face Anatomy( goodness gracious If I not end up reappearing🕉) So Physiology Viva was tricky and I was late(as usual) I had my spotting and helped all of my other batchmates😇 Then came the Hematology practicals or " Khooni practicals" I was assigned Differential Leucocyte Count😭 I never performed that in my life, but this time I had to! Lab Staff helped me in the preparation but the slide wasn't even prepared😭 Then I manipulated the readings because I don't want to get any scolding from the HOD or external. I felt happy that External came to take my viva and when she saw my slide she instead of shouting at me, said "It's okay, nevermind".My readings were not in the way It was supposed to be written😭 I don't know what will happen now! Coming to the next viva, was of Amphibian Graph and Charts, It went good. Then came Cranial nerve examination,...

The Doctor-ly lectures in First year MBBS!ECE lectures |Indian MedSchool Story✨|

blog15 This was one of the most fun and learning Experiences I had in my first year. So as per new Curriculum, lectures were added that was based on introducing "Early Clinical Exposure" to newly entered Medicos. These lectures were so informative and helped to gain more knowledge both in Surgical and Medicine aspect. Most of the lectures were taken up by professors of Surgery that was called up by the Department of Anatomy. Every week on Monday 2-3PM we had our ECE lectures. These lectures were based on more clinical aspect to the common diseases we learnt in our subjects of 1st year. We were introduced to the surgical aspect of say,how Thyroid is removed called Thyroidectomy by the department of Surgery.  How to treat Jaundice and Dehydration by the Department of Physiology. Even we had a lecture that was based upon Antenatal care that was delivered by the Department of Obstretics and Gynaecology. All these lectures opened our horizon and made learning more easier than to j...

Concept of AETCOM in first year MBBS! |Indian MedSchool Story|

Image
Okay, so I am writing this post when I just completed my Foundation Course logbook because obviously this carries marks, And you as an MBBS student  should never fail to fetch score, You getting for extra tad-bits(because MBBS exams speaks for itself😌) So though our "Covid-stuck/ruined ever-so-fine 2020batch" didn't get the opportunity to be a part of Foundation course, writing about it like How the experience would have been, seems kinda made-up for me🤣 I still remember our professors used to say(tease), Foundation course brings a fun side to your Med School life before you actually start in the grind for the academics.  Another concept that is different from the academics is AETCOM ,that aims on the overall intellectual and behavioral aspects of a Doctor.  AETCOM stands for Attitude,Ethics and Communication. Medicos get to study this subject via discussions  from various department. Even we get to express our learnings in the form of Assignment that ...

Books for NEET PREPARATION! |Indian MedSchool Story|

First of all a big kudos to everyone who dreams of becoming a doctor! The feeling that you want to help and serve the people suffering,is truly commendable. Though the process of getting a seat in MBBS isn't easy though. In India You have to crack NEET exam to get into MBBS.The competition in NEET is over the top. The exam comprises of 3 subjects and is of 720 marks. Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Books to prefer during NEET preparation Biology- NCERT is a must to cover in Biology. NCERT at Fingertips is indeed a good bookbook, for practicing questions. Solving previous years' questions is a must. Botany is quite hard to memorise so try to learn examples using Mnemonics and flashcards. Chemistry For Inorganic Chemistry, cover NCERT completely. For Organic, I find NCERT is a bit vague.Try to grasp concepts via Onlineand Youtube Sources.Use MS Chouhan to cover questions.  For Physical Chemistry, Cover Theory by NCERT. Practice Questions from OP Tandon. Previous year JEE questi...

Blog12 Okay, So first of all "yayyyyyyy!!!!" That feeling of exams getting postponed is another level.Remembering to the stress I had in these days. Crying while memorising Arteries😂😂 So the news was given to me by none-other-than Usha!😂 When i hear about exams getting postponed ,it reminds me of NEET 2020. Now, Exams  have been postponed, I would study with quite less stress. Won't leave Biochemistry to study at last moment. Won't try to completely relax like, not opening books😂 Will study on a regular basis(Hell,Yeah!) All the best to everyone having exams. Hope you people stay Fine and Healthy✨  -Shipra MBBS from Dr.BSA Medical College and Hospital. -Shipra

The Constant Confusion of, Exams getting postponed or not? |Indian MedSchool Story|

Blog11 Life Update Another Day ,Another hope that rising covid cases may lead to exams getting postponed! I started giving my all for Studies right from 1st day of 2022. To finish up the whole syllabus of Anatomy is really no joke😂 I remember last night  I was memorising the branches of Internal Thoracic Artery via the mnemonic I made. The mnemonic was(Crappy enough) "Mummy Mere liye 2 anti peri peri Samose" As shitty this mnemonic seems 😂😂  When I was memorising the branches I got zoned out after reading Samose😂😂 Another incident was When I was memorising Branches of Internal Iliac Artery I studied like minutes ago,but i wasn't able to recall all. I legit started crying why Can't I remember all of the things I put heed to! Then I talked to my friend over call and told him about what happened Then at the same moment, I got the message from my friend "Seniors ke exam postpone ho gaye!" The moment I read this, I was so Happy😂 Really Felt relaxed that may...

Blog10 Okay,  *statutory warning*  To the upcoming medical students, To be prepared for insults you will receive in due course of your MBBS. The beginning starts from ANATOMY! So, my anatomy practical exam gave me the last memory of college for year 2021.Obviously the memory isn't something to brag, but this was one big realisation to start study like hell! My first ever practical Anatomy practical exam was on 23rd Dec2021. The practical comprises of OSPE, then histology Practical and Viva; Embryology Viva and Radiology Viva, Gross anatomy viva, Surface anatomy viva and then Osteology Viva. And lastly you have to go through your Sent-up exam sheets😂  The exam was to begin at 9 and that day I woke up early and reached college early too. The classrooms were locked at that time😌 I sat there in the Cafetaria waiting for the classrooms to open. That day was Shivering cold! But then again, The exam didn't even begin till half an hour😑 I still remember the very feeling of goi...

Biochemistry Pre-proff practical Exam Experience! |Indian MedSchool Story|

Image
Blog 9 Okay, First of all, wishing everyone a very happy last day of 2021(not even a day, writing this post literally one and half hour before 12am😂😂) This post is about my biochemistry practical exam Experience. Biochemistry reminds me of the time I spent in those Labs at Hindu College when I was a Chemistry Major for a year😂.Those memories really was filled with happiness and cheer. The reason why I love Performing those Biochemistry practicals is because It reminds me of Hindu College! Okay,Let's get back to the MBBS story😂 Though, this wasn't our batch's first time to biochemistry practical exam. The "woke" biochemistry faculty did take our practical exams before and This time the experience was fun 😂 The practical involves spotting, then performing OSPE; then one practical was assigned to you and you have to perform that; then followed by Table viva which was based on the practical you were assigned. Talking about Spotting, The group my roll no. fell under...

Physiology Practical Exam Experience! |Indian MedSchool Story|

Image
Blog 8  This blog is in continuation of the previous blog.Make sure to check that out too! So, our practicals started 3 days after our pre-proffs ended. It was our first Experience to take up practical exams and to experience one dreaded full-of-insults and scolding "VIVA".  I guess every science student I meet who happen to knew that I am pursuing MBBS ends up asking " or bta kitne beijjati hui Viva me?"😆🤣🤣 Literally, Viva(s) in medical college is on another level of you to experience how your  professors can turn their back on you🙂 This blog is of my Physiology Practical Exam. So my first practical exam was of Physiology and started around 9:15am.Our professor told us to be in the demo room around 9.Usha(you know her now ,right?) called me to be there in the demo room as quick as possible, but my so called do-not-spend-money-cause-you-belong-to-middle-class-family took bus that day too🙂 .And I was Late,I came around 9:10 but still happen to take up ...

Blog 7 Pre-proff Exam Edition part1 Today is 23rd Dec 2021, and finally the whole month of ruckus created by Pre-proff exams onto my brain finally ended! *sigh* Literally,In this whole month, I proudly say I have studied the most than in the entire year🤣 From Completing whole book before exams to getting Insults in Viva; From asking my friend "kitna padha? yaar merko to kuch bhi nai aata!" to actually taking up exams with sleep deprived self. This whole month had it all!  Okay, Lemme share my whole experience though You didn't ask for🤣This will be of my written exam experience. My first exam was on 10th of Dec2021 and it was Anatomy paper1 Legit, nailed it😎 Though got one fine scolding from my anatomy tutor because of my bad habit of writing concised points onto question paper because one dreaded FOMO of failing!💀 The exam was pretty easy and I attempted well. Was really proud of my ability to remember those Neuroanatomy diagrams💥  Then came 11th Dec2021, I...

How First year really was! Indian MedSchool Story✨

Image
4th Dec2021 The day when, are so called,"Covid-struck/ruined ever-so-fine 2020 Batch with No Freshers and White coat ceremony" finally ended!  Our college started on 2nd Feb2021 and the freshmen year ended today that is 4th Dec2021✨ Though we just went to college for the offline classes for about 5months . The experiences I received are on another level💥.It was indeed a feeling of mixed emotion ,to put forth ,what actually Freshmen year to me was!  Some noteworthy experiences/learnings: 🌟 Getting to see, dissect a real human body! I will never forget my first dissection hall experience to be honest💥 You can check that out on my blog. 🌟 Extracting and performing "bloody practicals" for Physiology ofcourse. Well, Hematology practicals were fun,I must say(My exams are in this month and I have forgotten every practical, not crying😢) 🌟 Experimenting on Urine in those neglected or Study-one-day-before  for exam subject, that is  Biochemistry! The best part...

How Histology changes the perception of analysing things! |Indian MedSchool Story|

Image
Blog 5 "Histology!" or "Yaar, merko to harr slide ek jaisi hi dikhti hai" subject.  The subject that defines how well you focus & how you focus to get the exact focus on the cell that's being drown in colored pigments. In first year, you deal with the pink and purple. It's an interesting subject until you actually  zone out upon seeing the very first slide put in front of you in the exam😂 I had my Anatomy 2nd semester practical exam recently and even though I had seen the same slides more than 5 times and revised them whole heartedly, I blanked out.  Histology really changes the way you "appreciate" things and how you find the slides "beautiful" just like my professor used to say.  Histology really gives an insight to look upon the organs and tissues microscopically. The plethora of different types of cells constituting one big organ ;cells working together giving the organ its big identity! Cells at Work!  "How minute...

Testing Urine for Biochemistry Practicals! |Indian MedSchool Story|

Image
Blog 4  Human body is amazing. It has got endless reactions and processes going inside. The first year in MBBS corresponds to Pre-Clinical Subjects that builds up the foundation for the rest of the years. The Subjects involved are Anatomy,Physiology and Biochemistry.  Anatomy being with the most syllabus and various sub-parts🥺 Physiology dealing with the reactions ,regulation and Diseases associated with the processes taking place inside our body. Biochemistry involves the chemical reactions taking place inside our body.It deals with metabolism and diseases associated if any disfunction occurs in the reactions. It is the most neglected subject by the students of first year.  Biochemistry practicals are fun though or even not so likable as in case of testing constituents of abnormal Urine 😂 So the practical started with our professors briefing with the practical. We have to analyse the abnormal constituents inside the sample that were carbohydrates or Simply g...

First Experience of Pricking Finger for Hematology Practical| Physiology Hematology Practical| Indian MedSchool Story|

Image
Blog3 We all as young or even old dread of getting injections.I still remember recent conversation I had with my friend to get covid vaccine done and her reply was,"Injection se hi to darr hai!" So, Ya getting injections and pricking fingers can be a frightful task for some or even memorable one like I had in my first Physiology Hematolgy practical in my first year. The slight prick though gives a chill to the spine. As a first year medical student, You get to experience a whole lot of "Bloody" practicals😂 Someone rightly said,"MBBS khoon maangti hai!" He must be talking about the Physiology Hematology Practicals So, in those practicals, You have to prick your finger and check the various aspects of the experiments. You can also prick your Friend's finger and analyse the experiment but no one is like me, who actually gave blood to my classmate for the first practical or even last one as well😂 The very sight of the practical lab is filled ...

First Experience at Dissection Hall! |Indian MedSchool Story|

Blog2 "Death is not extinguishing the light, It is only putting out the light because the dawn has come" -Rabindranath Tagore We all dread of ghosts and the dead when we were young or even now, Until and unless you are into paranormal fiction or like me who is into fictitious beings. What you expect your life to be, is the way you live your life upto. We all want to live our life with awestruck moments that brings us lots of memories to cherish forever. Have you ever thought about giving someone memories even when you are not alive? Seems unimaginable though. Here lies the Most important event in my 1st year as medical student pursuing MBBS. My first ever experience at Dissection Hall. I still remember my college's anatomy HOD words. "Anatomy is the only subject where the Dead teaches the living" It's the subject that makes us learn more about human body but also makes us ponder over the gratefulness, gratitude, courage and strength showcased by the...
